||Shield Bash
||Shield Wall
||You can bash an opponent with a shield, using it as an off-hand weapon. Damage dealt by a shield bash is  (Strength + Melee Weapons)/2 + Base Shield Bonus. Used this way, a shield is a one handed non-lethal weapon. If you perform a Shield Bash, you lose your shield bonus until your next action.
||While using a shield you gain Parry bonus equal to 4 - Base Shield Bonus to a maximum of Rank.

||Character may voluntarily grant some/all of his base shield bonus and AP Reduction to an adjacent ally. If all base shield bonus is granted then all AP Reduction must be granted. An ally gaining this bonus has a penalty on their ranged attacks or aimed spells equal to the bonus granted. This penalty does not impact melee attacks.
||As a Standard Action you prepare to counter a melee attack within reach before your next action. When attempting to counter an attack in this way, make an opposed attack roll using the wielded weapon skill vs. the attacker's unmodified attack roll. Your attack roll gains a bonus equal to your Shield Bonus + Shield Enhancement. If your opposed roll is greater than the attack roll, you counter the attack preventing it from dealing damage. Attacks prevented in this way do not activate wards, reactive armors, or other defenses unless they explicitly state otherwise. On a successful block, the attacker suffers Non-Lethal Damage equal to the difference between the Shield Block roll and the attack.

||Block & Strike
||Character may treat his shield bonus as a cover bonus against Aimed spells. This affects the character or an ally gaining shield bonus via Protect. Any round in which Cover is used, the character or ally has a penalty on attacks or aimed spells equal to the cover bonus granted. Unlike normal Cover penalties, this penalty affects melee attacks.
||Character may ready a Shield Block and perform a regular melee attack as a Full Round action.

Requirements

  • Melee Weapons, Rank 2
  • Rank 1-5, 1 CC point per Rank or 3 GXP x Rank

Effects

Rank 1 Shield Wall While using a shield you gain Parry bonus equal to 4 - Base Shield Bonus to a maximum of Rank.
Rank 2 Shield Block As a Standard Action you prepare to counter a melee attack within reach before your next action.
Rank 3 Protection You gain +1 Shield Bonus whenever you are granted a shield bonus to defense.
Rank 4 Intercept Attack As a Full Round Action you prepare to counter a melee attack within movement range before your next action. This allows the character to reactively move, and then perform a Shield Block.

Example: On Swetelove's turn she activates Intercept Attack. She may choose to move and attempt to Shield Block any attack within her movement without losing her place in the turn order.

Rank 5 Block & Strike Character may ready a Shield Block and perform a regular melee attack as a Full Round action.
