On a successful Magic Resist, the target ignores the attempt, otherwise they suffer Rank points of Lethal damage, and the caster gains Rank points (or the target's remaining health, whichever is lower) healing. This spell counts as a Healing spell for purposes of mana cost and spells that affect healing (such as Impair Healing).

On a successful Casting Roll vs. Magic Resistance, the target ignores the attempt, otherwise they suffer Rank points of Lethal damage, and the caster gains Rank points (or the target's remaining health, whichever is lower) of magical healing.

If the shaman is capable of conjuring a Spectral Hand she may spend an additional mana to cast Drain Touch at the Hand's range instead.
