Disable Device represents the skill to disarm or defuse traps, snares, and wards. In most cases this roll requires specialized tools that allow the user to pry open mechanisms, jam moving parts, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the device. To use Disable Device the user must be aware the device is present, and have access to it. Normally this requires a successful [[Search_Skill|Search]] roll before Disable Device can be attempted. To use Disable Device the user must be aware the device is present, and have access to it. Normally this requires a successful Search roll before Disable Device can be attempted. The number of successes required is an indication of the complexity or difficulty of the device. In most cases, magical traps or wards may not be disabled using this skill. Picking locks requires the Pick Lock skill.

2 Average difficulty to disable.
3 Challenging to disable.
4 Difficult to disable.
5 Extremely difficult to disable.
