Additionally, you know how to better deflect attacks from all sides, and gain +1 Parry. This increases to +2 at Rank 3 and +3 at Rank 5.
Additionally, staves in your hands gain +1 to the base weapon damage dice, increasing it from 2 to 3. This increases again to 4 dice at Rank 3.

||In your hands, a staff is more deadly than expected. Staves increase their base dice to 3. They further increase to 4 dice at Rank 4.
||You may ready an action to counter a melee attack within reach before your next action. Upon attempting to counter an attack in this way, make an opposed roll vs the attacker's unmodified attack roll. If your opposed roll is greater than the attack roll, you are able to deflect the attack away from it's intended target. Attacks deflected in this way do not hit any Wards, reactive armors, or other defenses.
 
Additionally you gain +1 Parry. This increases to +2 at Rank 4.

||In place of a standard attack, make an opposed attack roll vs a target's base attack roll (Stat + Skill + Weapon Dice). On a success, the target loses their grip on their weapon. The Storyteller has discretion on if the weapon is simply dropped or is knocked away some distance. This attack is ineffective against natural weapons, 'unarmed' weapons, and other weapons which are considered part of the target.
