Required Mind Sphere 4
Range Sight / Sense Minds
Area 1 Target
Duration 1 Round x Rank
Casting Verbal, Somatic
Cast Action Standard
Mana Cost 3
Effect If a target fails a Magic Resistance roll they perceive a monstrous creature drawn from their own deepest fears. The creature appears from a location within sight selected by the caster, in as realistic a manner as possible, coming out from shadows or doorways. As the creature is entirely in the target's mind it may not be seen or interacted with by anyone else, and may move at whatever speed the caster wishes. Spells which reveal magic (e.g. Mage Sight) will show the target is affected by a Mind spell, and Psychic Assassin can be dispelled with a successful Magical Disruption.

Each round, including the round Psychic Assassin is cast, the target gains a stack of Fear starting with Shaken. Additionally each round the target must make a second Magic Resistance roll or suffer Rank Lethal damage. Damage dealt by the spell is perceived by the target as grievous wounds dealt by the creature, however no visible marks appear on the target's body for anyone else.

The target perceives the creature as a real being, however they may not harm or impede the creature. Spells or attacks made by the target can still effect other targets in the environment (e.g. a Lightning Bolt cast at the creature would deal no damage to the Psychic Assassin, but might hit other targets caught in the blast). If the target attempts to escape the creature by fleeing, it can still reach them each round.
