Effect The Adept concentrates their internal energy into a continuous lance of radiant soul energy in a straight line. The beam is narrow, only affecting those directly in its path (approximately 1 yard wide). Targets struck by the lance suffer Willpower + Soulforging Skill + Phoenix Discipline lethal damage. The roll may be modified by Magic Defense and other applicable Defense bonuses (e.g. Cover) but not Dodge. The Adept may charge the Soul Lance by delaying the attack and spending a Full Round action for up to Rank rounds gaining +1d10 damage per round of preparation. Soul Lance may be maintained with a Full Round action each turn for as long as the caster concentrates or Rank rounds have passed. Mana is spent when the spell is initially cast, however the beam continues dealing damage according to the initial cast. A target moving through a square with the beam may evade the beam by spending double movement to duck or jump over it. On subsequent turns, the caster may move the beam in one direction to a maximum of 90 degrees once per round without breaking concentration, dealing damage to all targets struck by the sweeping beam. If a target is slain by the beam, the next target in the path of the beam takes damage immediately.
