Diplomacy Skill
Diplomacy is the art of negotiation and convincing others to see a different point of view and alter their actions accordingly. You can change the attitudes of others with a successful Diplomacy check. In negotiations, participants roll opposed Diplomacy checks, and the winner gains the advantage. Opposed checks also resolve situations when two advocates or diplomats plead opposite cases in a hearing before a third party.
Disposition
Disposition is the overall feeling a target has towards your character and how likely they are to aid you or share information. A hostile target is far less likely to agree to even simple requests than a close ally.
Rank | Disposition | Description |
---|---|---|
5 | Hostile | Will take risks to hurt you. |
4 | Unfriendly | Wishes you ill. |
3 | Neutral | Indifferent to you. |
2 | Friendly | Wishes you well. |
1 | Ally | Will take risks to help you. |
Difficulty
Difficulty is the rating of how hard it will be to convince a target to aid you. The more unreasonable the request the higher the difficulty. Based off what you wish the target to do, compare against their current Disposition, and the Disposition required to meet that action.
Rank | Description |
---|---|
0 | Task the target was already intending to do. |
1 | |
2 | |
3 | Task the target is indifferent to. |
4 | |
5 | Task that is directly opposed to their nature. |
Difficulty + Disposition = Successes required
