Effect As a Full Round action, the channeler weaves magic into wind and water, creating a swirling, spiraling funnel at any visible point within 50 yards. At the beginning of the next round, the vortex begins drawing nearby targets not encircled in an Eye of the Storm toward its center.

Targets within range of the maelstrom must succeed on a Resistance roll vs. (Casting Skill + Casting Stat + Source Rank) each round or be dragged Rank yards toward the center of the maelstrom. Within 5 yards of the vortex, failing the resistance roll results in the target immediately being drawn into the maelstrom itself.

Once inside the maelstrom, the target must succeed on a resistance roll to attempt to escape or take (Casting Skill + Casting Stat + Source Rank) damage per round.

The maelstrom may be contained by creating it within a sufficiently-sized water source (e.g. an ocean or lake >100 yd across) rather than in the air. In this case, the penalty and range for floating targets is doubled, but the maelstrom does not affect targets that are not directly in the water. Targets drawn into an aquatic Maelstrom immediately begin drowning.

After Rank x 2 rounds, the maelstrom disperses.
