Effects

A channeler's Focus serves as a more direct magical link with her Patron. It is a holy symbol, the essence of her faith distilled into an object. A channeler's focus can take the form of just about any type of equipment (e.g. an amulet, a shield, a weapon, etc.), however all channeler foci must be immediately identifiable as - or adorned with - a holy symbol of the channeler's Patron, which will usually not vary considerably among those who worship a specific deity.

Channelers that pursue the creation of a focus will realize multiple benefits to their casting when properly wielded. Wielding a focus requires that at least one hand must be exclusively engaged with it to gain its bonuses. For example, this may involve holding the focus in one hand or using the fingers of the hand to touch it and activate it. Generally, a focus that doubles as a weapon or shield may be utilized with the proper Fighting Styles.

If the focus is ever lost, either due to separation by planar magic or by its destruction (voluntarily or otherwise), the character may reconstruct the focus. Reconstruction takes 1 day for each rank of the benefit previously purchased. During reconstruction, all mana is consumed each day and will not be available for any other purpose. No break in creation is permitted. If the channeler desires, she can reconstruct the focus at a lower rank than previously obtained, however future rank increases must be paid at full cost. During this process, the channeler may change any previous choices made for the prior focus, if applicable.

Only one focus may exist at a time for any one character, who is attuned to that focus, and the abilities of that focus are dependent on the Benefit rank obtained. Only the channeler who is attuned to the focus gains benefits from wielding it, i.e. no one may gain bonuses from wielding another person’s focus.

1	Zealot's Guard	The channeler gains a +1 Divine bonus to both Magic Defense and Magical Resistance against Channeling magic from Patrons other than her own.
2	Basic Focus	The focus now provides the channeler with a +1 Focus bonus to the Casting Roll of all Channeling spells associated with her deity when wielded. This increases to +2 at Rank 3, and then to +3 at Rank 5.
3	Sacred Conduit	Once per day, while wielding the focus, the channeler becomes a beacon of her Patron's power, allowing her and up to Rank number of chosen allies within 4 yards to draw mana directly from her Patron as though from a Nexus (restoring 1 mana per minute per target). The maximum mana granted among all selected targets may not exceed an amount equal to twice her highest Domain rank. This requires Concentration, and the channeler must also remain stationary in order to maintain the link. Lasts up to 1 hour or until the mana restoration limit is reached, the channeler moves, or Concentration is broken.

5	Zealot's Gift	Once per day as a Fast Action, the channeler may beseech her Patron to grant her greater access to a single Domain that they control. She may treat that Domain as one Rank higher than she currently has access to for the purposes of all Casting rolls, and also gains access to the powers available at that Rank. This effect lasts for up to 3 Rounds, or until a Line power is used that the channeler does not normally have access to. This ability does not grant access to any Ascendant level powers that are not already available to the channeler.
